The bright sunshine on the first day of meteorological Spring (March 1st) helped defray the -11 daytime temperature, and it sank to -21 in the evening. I don't seem to recall the temperature with such wide swings as we’ve seen this year. We have not seen the height of the snowbanks along our road in many years, quite something.

Watch on Facebook, Otter Greenhouse is rolling out their new baby plants to hang from the rafters. What a delight.

The Ontario County Holstein Club held their annual banquet on Friday evening, showcasing some very excellent-looking dairy cows on screen from county farms, and congratulating the Durham West 4H youth who participated in the TD 4H Classic at the Royal, earning Durham West top county again. Carl Phoenix auctioned a variety of donations; the silent auction was very successful, as was the delicious meal provided by Mary’s Country Kitchen. Always most delicious.

4H clubs will soon be gearing up for another season with so much knowledge in diverse clubs to educate our youth.

What a beautiful surprise when grandson Carter popped in for a visit Sunday afternoon, just arriving home from college at North Bay for a few days. His three-year course in digital cinema photography will be completed in April. Best wishes to all the university and college students as they work toward the end of their courses. Time flies.

A Breakfast is planned at Epsom Church in aid of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank on Good Friday morning (March 30th). Please keep this date marked on your calendar.

Church at Epsom United, at 10:30 a.m., this Sunday. All are welcome.
