This morning’s 10 degrees Celsius is a complete reversal from the 32-degree temperatures we have been experiencing. Have you noticed the change in the trees on your property?

Here, the Autumn Blaze, planted seven years ago, has become October-like, and the huge maple tree leaves are becoming crinkly and falling. It’s usually the last to drop its leaves, generally in November. Just too dry on this hill.

Our sympathy to the Vernon family on the passing of John, to Isabel, his wife, Lisa, and Jason, their family. John passed away on Friday after battling cancer.

A big thank you to the Port Perry Agricultural Society’s Open House and all the food venues, the cloggers, and special entertainer Brodie Bell. It was again a fun time to join neighbours at a very special place.

Worship at Glen Major is this Sunday, at 7 p.m.

Recently, some members of Bethesda Reach Women’s Institute enjoyed a visit to the Erland Lee (Museum) Home. This is a place of special significance to this organization here and sister organizations around the world, as it was here, in 1897 the charter of the first branch of the Women’s Institute was founded.

The first Lee ancestors arrived in Canada in the late 1700s and built a log cabin on this property, high on Hamilton Mountain, above the village of Stoney Creek. The cabin was later framed in as part of a more impressive home in the 1800s. Today it is furnished as it might have been in 1897. An adjacent building is used for workshops and to display Women’s Institute memorabilia.
