SCUGOG: Dana’s Goldsmithing marked a major milestone in community support with the presentation of an $8,000 donation to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation on Monday, January 19th, at its Queen Street location in Port Perry.
The cheque presentation saw Tanya Latreille, Chair of the Port Perry Hospital Foundation, accept the donation from Dana Smith, alongside partners Kyra Martin and Lynda Bruno and members of the Dana’s Goldsmithing team. Proceeds from the fundraiser help ensure local medical teams have the tools and resources they need to provide exceptional care close to home for residents across North Durham.
This year’s fundraiser also celebrates 25 years of giving. Over the past quarter-century, Dana’s Goldsmithing has raised an extraordinary $138,500 in support of the Port Perry Hospital Foundation, creating a lasting legacy of community generosity.
A key to the fundraiser’s enduring success is the original Charity Ornament design created each year by Ms. Smith and her staff. The annual ornaments have become highly sought after, often selling out quickly. Many residents now prebook their ornaments as early as October to ensure they don’t miss out. The popularity of the fundraiser extends far beyond the local area, with one loyal supporter from Canada’s east coast preordering 40 ornaments each year to give as gifts.
New in 2025, Dana’s Goldsmithing is also offering past Charity Ornament designs for sale through its website, giving customers another opportunity to support the hospital while collecting or gifting these meaningful keepsakes.
Through the fundraiser, $5 from every Charity Ornament and, for the first time this year, $50 from every Charity Necklace were donated directly to the Port Perry Hospital. Each purchase represents more than a beautiful piece of jewelry—it is a meaningful investment in the health and well-being of the community.
With 25 years of continued support, Dana’s Goldsmithing’s partnership with the Port Perry Hospital Foundation continues to demonstrate how local businesses can make a lasting impact in the community.
