Convenient curbside natural Christmas tree collection in January

DURHAM: When the holidays are over, Durham Region will provide its annual curbside collection of natural Christmas trees. Natural Christmas trees will be composted with leaf and yard waste.

Brock, Clarington, Scugog and Uxbridge: Christmas tree collection will take place on Monday, January 9th and Monday, January 16th only.

Unfavourable weather conditions may delay collection; please leave trees out for collection on your scheduled date. Residents are encouraged to sign up for weekly reminders and service alerts by downloading the Durham Region Waste App or visiting durham.ca/waste.

Please note the following set-out specifications: All tinsel, decorations, wire, plastic bags, lights, tree skirts, nails and stands must be removed from the tree. Trees must be set out by 7 a.m. on your collection day, but no earlier than 7 p.m. the evening before your collection day. Trees set out in plastic bags will not be collected. Trees exceeding three metres (10 feet) must be cut in half for collection. Please ensure trees are not buried in snowbanks or frozen to the ground. Do not place Christmas trees on top of, or behind snowbanks – ensure the tree is fully accessible for collection.
