Changes to Regional services in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

DURHAM: The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of the impacts on Regional programs and services on September 30th, in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The following programs and/or services will be unavailable on Friday, September 30th, in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation:

All services at Durham Regional Headquarters in Whitby, including provincial courts; Ontario Works Office; and Children’s Services Fee Subsidy Program

All waste management facilities: Oshawa, Scugog, Brock and the Clarington Household Special Waste Depot

The Waste Management Centre in Whitby

The Waste Management Call Centre (calls and emails to be returned on October 3rd)

Ontario Works offices in Ajax, Uxbridge and Oshawa (both locations)

Health Department programs and services, including:

Services at Consumers Road in Whitby and Perry Street in Port Perry

Oral Health Clinic in Oshawa

Sexual health clinics at the Oshawa Centre and Pickering Town Centre

Breastfeeding Clinic at the Whitby Mall

Community Immunization Clinic in Bowmanville

There will be no impacts on the Durham Region Transit service or Regional Early Learning and Child Care programs.

Ontario Works monthly cheque pick up will be on Thursday, September 29th, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Clients with direct deposit will also receive their payment on Thursday, September 29th. For more details, visit http://bit.ly/3qT39on.

The Port Perry Adult Day Program, located at 451 Paxton Street, will remain closed on Fridays.
