KAWARTHA LAKES: Families across Kawartha Lakes are invited to make lasting memories this Family Day, on Monday, February 16th, at the Lindsay Recreation Complex. From skating and swimming to yoga and crafts, Parks and Recreation has a full lineup of free and fun activities for families to enjoy together.
“Family Day is all about bringing people together,” said, Parks and Recreation Coordinator, Christine MacDonald. “We’re excited to offer so many opportunities for families to connect, have fun, and try something new, all in one place.”
The complex, located at 133 Adelaide Street South, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with pre-registration required for most activities. Those unable to register online can email recreation@kawarthalakes.ca or call 705-324-9112 for assistance.
Skating highlights include: free family skating sessions, sponsored by CUPE Local 997; Boyer Chevrolet Lindsay; the Lindsay Lions Club; along with Stick and Puck and Shinny sessions for hockey enthusiasts. “I love seeing kids of all ages getting out on the ice together,” said, local skating coach, Mark Reynolds. “It’s a great way to stay active and enjoy some friendly competition.”
Swimming fans can dive in with Family Fun Swim sessions, courtesy of Wards Lawyers, as well as an adult swim period. The pool offers an ideal way for families to cool off and enjoy some quality time together.
Fitness enthusiasts can take part in members-only Pilates and CycleFit classes, while the Family Day activities provide creative outlets for everyone. Family Craft Time allows families to relax, stretch, and express their artistic sides.
“Family Day is about slowing down and spending time together,” added Ms. MacDonald. “Whether it’s gliding across the ice, splashing in the pool, or making a craft, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Please note, the Weight Room will be open for members only, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additionally, all regularly scheduled fitness classes and swimming lessons are cancelled for Family Day.
