BEAVERTON: The 169th Annual Beaverton Fall Fair is just around the corner, promising a weekend filled with tradition, excitement, and community spirit. The fair, which will take place on Friday, September 13th, and Saturday, September 14th, at the Beaverton Fairgrounds, is expected to draw large crowds as it continues its legacy as a cherished local event.
This year, the fair will welcome back the popular midway, a highlight for families and thrill-seekers alike. The festivities will kick off on Friday at noon when the fairgrounds and buildings officially open to the public. Attendees can look forward to a variety of attractions, starting with the midway, which will operate from Noon to 10 p.m., on Friday.
The fair will also feature a lively parade, beginning at 12:15 p.m. at the Beaverton Public Library and making its way to the fairgrounds for the opening ceremonies at 12:45 p.m. in the Grandstand Ring. Following the parade, the Harold Lodwick Memorial Cross Country Run will take place at 1:30 p.m. along the Lions Loop, a fitting tribute to a beloved community member.
Families with young children will enjoy "Balloons with a Twist," offering entertainment from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. For those seeking a bit more excitement, the Demo Cross at 7 p.m. in the Grandstands is sure to thrill those in attendance.
Saturday’s festivities will begin bright and early, with the midway opening at 9 a.m. and running until 8 p.m. The day will showcase a range of activities, including the Durham West 4H Achievement Day in the Arena and a classic Car Show at the Baseball Diamond, both starting at 9 a.m. The Junior Gymkhana will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Horse Ring, followed by Horse Drawn Wagon Rides from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Balloons with a Twist will continue entertaining from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the Mini Tractor Pull at 11 a.m. in the Grandstands promises fun for all ages. The agricultural roots of the fair will be on display with the Open Beef Show at approximately Noon in the Arena and the Open Horse Show at 1 p.m. in the Horse Ring.
As the sun sets, the Demolition Derby at 7 p.m. in the Grandstands will provide a smashing end to the weekend's events.
