BROCK: Residents of Brock Township’s Ward 4 will soon have a new representative at the council table, following the declaration of a vacant seat, after the promotion of Cria Pettingill to Regional Councillor.

Council formally declared the Ward 4 position vacant in accordance with the Township’s Council Vacancy Policy, which outlines a transparent and accountable process for filling vacancies that occur during a council term.

“The Township’s process ensures the appointment of a new Councillor is conducted fairly and openly, providing an opportunity for qualified residents to step forward and serve their community,” said Clerk and Deputy CAO, Fernando Lamanna.

Applications for the vacant Ward 4 Councillor position were being accepted, beginning Wednesday, October 15th, at the Clerk’s Office, in the Township of Brock Municipal Administration Building, located at 1 Cameron Street East in Cannington. The deadline to submit completed applications is Friday, October 31st, at 4 p.m.

Qualified individuals are required to submit their nomination forms in person, to ensure timely processing. “Residents, who are passionate about Brock Township and interested in local government, are encouraged to apply,” Mr. Lamanna added. “Serving as a Councillor is a rewarding way to make a positive difference in your community.”

A Special Council Meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 12th, at 6 p.m., when Council will consider the applications and hear remarks from qualified candidates, before making an appointment to fill the vacancy.

Residents seeking additional information about eligibility, application forms, and the appointment process can visit the Township’s Elections webpage, at www.townshipofbrock.ca/municipal-office/elections/ or contact the Clerk’s Office, at 705-432-2355 or clerks@brock.ca.

“This is an important opportunity for civic-minded residents to take part in shaping Brock’s future,” said Mayor Mike Jubb. “We look forward to meeting the candidates and welcoming a new member to Council, who will represent the residents of Ward 4 with dedication and integrity.”
