SCUGOG: Downtown Port Perry welcomed a fresh new addition on Sunday, December 7th, with the opening of Anyway Fruit at 88 Water Street. The shop specializes in fresh, natural fruits and vegetables, emphasizing flavour, quality, and affordability.

Daniel, one of the co-owners, explained the business grew from a lifelong passion for fresh produce. “We’re all childhood best friends — 15 plus years,” he said. “One of our friends’ families has been in the produce business for over 40 years.” Daniel said the team grew frustrated watching high-quality produce lose its flavour due to early harvesting and excessive handling. “We asked ourselves, why don’t we come together and fix these problems? We want to give people quality fruits for affordable pricing so everybody can try fruit the way food should actually taste.”

Anyway Fruit offers fresh fruit smoothies, fruit bowls, and a wide range of produce. Whenever possible, the team sources locally from Ontario farmers, and during winter months, they bring in high-quality produce from Mexico to ensure consistent freshness and flavour. “The more middlemen you cut out, the better pricing we can offer,” Daniel said. “We don’t believe in crazy markups. Fruits come from the earth — everyone should have access to them.”

Port Perry was chosen as the store’s home after a summer visit revealed the town’s charm and vibrant community life. “We drove through and were in shock — it was like a movie,” Daniel recalled. “Queen Street, the lake, the movement, the happiness. We said, this is the place.”

Since opening, the store has been embraced by the community. “We see how strong this community is. Big cities have lost that. We couldn’t be happier to start here,” Daniel said.

Shoppers at Anyway Fruit can expect fresh smoothies, fruit bowls, and produce, along with vegetable plates coming soon — all prepared with a commitment to freshness, natural ingredients, and zero waste. “We believe in keeping everything natural and giving people the best we can,” Daniel said.

Anyway Fruit is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
