86 year-old pedestrian killed after being hit by a minivan in Beaverton

BROCK: An 86-year-old man has died, after being hit by a vehicle, in Beaverton, on Tuesday, October 24th.

Durham Regional Police were called to Simcoe Street, in the downtown Beaverton area, around 3 p.m.

“An 86-year-old male pedestrian had been struck by an eastbound Chevrolet minivan while attempting to cross the street. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased during transport, by EMS, to the hospital. The driver of the mini-van remained on scene and cooperated with investigating officers,” a Durham police press release stated.

The police then closed the roads in the area, “for several hours” while they conducted their investigation. The name of the victim has not been released.
