26th Annual Port Perry Antique & Nostalgia Show

MARILYN PEARCE, Lake Scugog Historical Society, Show Convenor

SCUGOG: The Lake Scugog Historical Society (LSHS) is pleased to announce, the Port Perry Winter Antique and Nostalgia Show returns to the Scugog Community Centre for the 26th year, on February 3rd and 4th. This Show is now one of Ontario's oldest continuously running shows and is always a welcome event for locals and antique and vintage collectors from around Ontario. Over the past 25 years, this Show has helped the local society fund their operational program, and donated to the Museum's capital fund.

Walking through the doors of the now semi-annual Port Perry Antique & Nostalgia Show (we also host an October show), you soon realize how popular this event has become for all generations of antique & vintage collectors, historians, decorators, and the community.

The Show will welcome 27 quality dealers from across Ontario as in the past. This year will see some new vendors added to the Show along with many of your usual favourites. For the first time, there will be a vendor who deals in Indigenous art and artifacts.

The atmosphere is always exciting for dealers and the public, as it kicks off the Antique season for the coming year. Visitors will find Canadiana antiques, primitives, folk art, jewelry, advertising signs & tins, furniture, postcards & paper, books, toys, china, glass, bottles and works of art. Saturday mornings are especially hectic, when the most passionate collectors line up early. You can hear folks planning their route through the hall in the entryway.

An added feature to our February 2024 show will be a book signing, on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., by local author Peter Hvidsten, who has just completed General Stores - Reach, Cartwright & Neighbouring Townships. The LSHS exhibit will feature General Store memorabilia. The LSHS book sales table, which features many historical books, both recently published and others currently out of print, will be available. The new Scugog Island Heritage Driving Tour, as well as the Greenbank and Area tour pamphlets, will be available.

The Show is open February 3rd and 4th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 and good for both days. The site is fully accessible, and light snacks are available.

All proceeds from this event will support the projects of the Lake Scugog Historical Society.
