What to do about stress: so, you can live a healthier life

Often, we live our lives as though there aren’t enough hours in the day! I read, in times of great stress or adversity, it’s always best to keep busy, to plow your anger and your energy into something positive. It is important to get your mind engaged and do something productive. Everyone is unique in the way they deal with stress. However, there are a number of ways or approaches you can try in order to deal with stress, whether it is financial stress, health problems, or workplace difficulties. Don’t let stress drag you down: it will narrow your ability to think clearly, function effectively and enjoy life. Recognize, good things can come from stressful situations. While some individuals appear to thrive on stress, stress is considered to be a risk factor in a number of diseases. Too much stress, associated with being under negative pressure, can affect your health and can cause serious health concerns. But there are a number of ways to deal with stress that can reduce your risk. The ultimate goal is a balanced life with family, friends, work, fun and relaxation. It’s important to identify the contributors of negative stress. Talking with family, friends or work colleagues can take your mind off your problems. Good stress can make you feel more involved and energized but negative stress can certainly affect your health, turning you bitter and making you feel like a victim. Stress can wreak havoc on your emotional equilibrium, as well as your physical health. It can cause biochemical changes in the body, effecting the immune system, and leave your body vulnerable to disease. While it may seem like there’s nothing you can do about stress, here are some steps to relieve the pressure and regain control in your life: Engage in activities that bring you joy. A good read can take your mind off your worries. I find reading inspiring and often motivates me, so I am ready to tackle my day. Many individuals will listen to a great podcast.

Find peace and happiness in each day. Practice reflecting, breathing techniques, or taking a quiet stroll in the woods, these can do wonders for stress. Music and laughter have the ability to ease stress and fatigue in the body, as well as playing with your pet for 10 minutes a day.

Eat right. Poor dietary choices lead to compromised health, such as weight gain, malnutrition, chronic tiredness and even diabetes. Not eating enough is just as problematic. Research shows, eating a healthy diet, reducing caffeine and sugar, avoiding alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes, and getting enough sleep are beneficial.

Worship. Religion and a connection to like-minded individuals in a spiritual setting will also allow you to find the support you need during a stressful time. Researchers say, we have about 60,000 thoughts per day! I find this absolutely amazing. The less you attach to your negative thoughts and let them pass through without believing them the more likely you will feel relaxed. The Bible has many helpful scriptures for dealing with stress, remember you have total control over the thoughts you choose to embrace. Simply ask yourself “How can I make today amazing?”
