Uxbridge man killed in truck rollover

UXBRIDGE: A 46-year-old Uxbridge man was killed after a garbage truck he was operating rolled over in Zephyr on Wednesday, ­April 8th. According to Durham Region police, at approximately 4 p.m. members of North Division responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Leitch Road near Uxbridge Concession Road 3 involving a garbage truck. Witnesses called 9-1-1 after finding a garbage truck that rolled onto its side on the roadway. An injured man was found lying on the roadway nearby. He had sustained serious head injuries and life-saving measures were attempted by emergency services. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. According to DRPS, this is the fifth fatality in 2020 in Durham Region. Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. The Ministry of Labour was contacted and will be investigating further.
