MARLO STANFIELD The Standard

UXBRIDGE: Less than a week after opening training camp, the Uxbridge  Bruins were back to their winning ways, posting back-to-back pre-season  wins over the weekend. The Bruins opened training camp on Tuesday, August 20th, in Stouffville  with the expectation of adding a strong group of newcomers to compliment  the returning players from last season’s Orr Division and Cougar Cup  championship squad. On Friday, August 23rd, the Bruins took a 6-3 victory over the Schomberg  Cougars in Stouffville to open the PJHL pre-season. Just days after celebrating his 16th birthday, Bruins goalie Cam Smith  turned aside 36 shots to pick up his first career junior hockey victory. On Sunday afternoon, the Bruins maintained their perfect record when  they posted a 6-2 win against the Stayner Siskins in Wasaga Beach. Over the past week, Uxbridge has also been busy on the trade front as they round out their roster for the 2019-20 campaign. The Bruins have acquired forwards Adam Bilyea and Spencer Mazakain in a trade with Orr Division rivals the Clarington Eagles.
