SCUGOG: While The Oakridge Pub in Port Perry has only existed since September 2023, the business has been growing.
“We’re continuing to improve wherever we think we need it. With décor, food items, appetizers [and] drinks. We don’t want to become complacent,” one of the owners, Jim Sarris, told The Standard.
Mr. Sarris described it as a “medium quaint pub with high-quality food and great atmosphere, service and customer support.”
“We have a wonderful customer base who supports us tremendously,” he added. “We want to be a friendly neighbourhood gathering and, just as important, a family restaurant.”
Manager Alexis Grassinger said what she loves most about Oakridge Pub is that it is family-owned.
“All of these guys keep that atmosphere here and make the customers feel like a family too, and it’s a very inviting place to work.”
Mr. Sarris said the Oak Ridges Moraine inspired the name of the pub.
“I like the word ‘Oak’ in a name. I just think it fits for a pub, with the colours of the oak and being close to the Oak Ridges Moraine.”
And since taking over the business, he said his vision of “what a pub should be” has come to fruition, and he stressed the focus has been on “quality food” as well as making sure “everything is clean.”
“We just want everyone to feel comfortable coming in here,” Kellie Sarris said.
The pub is also currently adding gluten-free options to their menu.
The Oakridge Pub is located at 15930 Old Simcoe Road, across from the Port Perry Fairgrounds.
