THE ARTIST WITHIN

A column by Lauren Walker

I want to thank so many people for the success of my display, at the Kent Farndale Gallery, this month. It will continue to be up until the end of January.

First, I was truly blown away by how many people attended my opening reception on January 7th. I was truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.

Thank you to Amy Caughlin, of the Scugog Memorial Library, for helping me learn the ins and outs of the gallery. The gallery space is beautiful and allows for great exposure. Thank you to my mom (my biggest supporter), who helped me transport and

mount my work in the gallery. Thanks to Jennifer Back, who owns "Mrs. Fields Bakehouse Café," for providing guests with delicious treats. Thank you to my editor, Colleen, of the Scugog Standard, for helping me promote my opening reception in the paper. I wish I could thank each and every person who attended. Please know your presence was appreciated and helped make the day even more special.

Most of my ideas have come to fruition with great success. I'm hoping to start a project for the 150th celebration of a local venue. I have my mind set on my next series, which will focus on black and white. I'd like to reach out to my readers in hopes you can search for amazing black-and-white photos. I'm specifically looking for pictures taken in and around Port Perry. Have a look at your photo albums and see what you have! You can send a copy of the picture to:

theartistwithin86@gmail.com or drop by All Fit All Ages Gym.

Happy Painting!
