SCUGOG ISLAND by Jeanne C. Le Saux-Ball

Last Thursday was the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, Donation Committee’s annual Big Cheque Presentation day, with over a million dollars being given away. The biggest recipient being the Township of Scugog, receiving 1 million dollars for the much needed future development of the Blackstock Arena. I got to meet the new Reverend Ned Wells. He is the new minister for Scugog Island United Church; it was a gracious day, and all enjoyed themselves. Call to worship was called by the new Reverend Ned. A warm welcome went out to those in attendance. A huge Thank you goes out to those who helped make the Christmas Dinner a huge success. The Christmas Eve Service will be on December 24th at 7 p.m. There are a couple of belated birthday wishes this week; Robbin Weare on the 8th, Mike Demone on the 10th, also to Liana Malcom on the 13th, and in case I forget, Happy Birthday to Chris Slemming on the 24th. Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating. I can be reached by email, at or by land line at 905-985-7662.
