DAN CEARNS, The Standard

SCUGOG: The Scugog community is stressing transit as a concern to provincial officials.

At a meeting, on Monday, April 17th, Ward 2 Councillor, Janna Guido informed Scugog councillors, she and Mayor Wilma Wotten attended a meeting, on Tuesday, April 11th, with, Prabmeet Sarkaria, Ontario’s President of the Treasury Board. The meeting was organized by MPP Todd McCarthy.

“He was doing a tour of the northern municipalities, and they hosted a small gathering with some business owners, to discuss some of the challenges they faced and some successes they experienced, and areas where the government can [provide] some assistance,” Councillor Guido explained.

She described it as “a very quick, brief meeting.”

“Highlighted in that was the difficulties for our businesses to obtain employees because of our lack of servicing with transit. That was highlighted by many of our businesses, and hopefully; they heard it loud and clear, we need to figure out how to get employees up here,” Councillor Guido summarized.
