Local animal shelters in need of donations

COURTNEY McCLURE, for The Standard

DURHAM: Animal shelters in North Durham and Kawartha Lakes are in need of food donations.

The Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter needs rabbit and kitten-specific food.

Food can be left in the bin outside of the Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter, located at 1360 Reach Street in Port Perry, on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. You can also drop donations off on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

For more information, you can reach the Uxbridge-Scugog Shelter at 905-985-9547.

The Lindsay shelter said they’re always in need of kitten and rabbit food. And they could always use more of these items: cat food, cat litter, bleach and paper towels.

Donations can be brought to the Lindsay Humane Society at 107 McLaughlin Road, City of Kawartha Lakes. It’s best to call 705-878-4618 first before dropping off donations.

Both shelters are accepting unopened food donations.
