Let’s Reconnect for Seniors on March 25th

COURTNEY McCLURE, The Standard

NORTH DURHAM: The 'Let’s Reconnect' Seniors’ Information Fair is new to the Uxbridge community.

It will be held on Saturday, March 25th, at the Uxbridge Arena Community Centre, opening at 10 a.m. and running until 4 p.m. All are welcome, and the event is free to attend.

There will be three presentations throughout the day, each will last about 45 minutes, and have their respective follow-up discussions .

The three presentation topics are on: Brain Health, at 11 a.m.; Falls Prevention, at 1 p.m.; and Fraud Prevention, at 3 p.m.

The goal of Let’s Reconnect is to bring the many businesses, services, organizations and clubs throughout Uxbridge into one location. This allows participating seniors to engage with these programs directly and easily.

According to Jennifer Noble, age-friendly coordinator for the Township of Scugog, the fair is a special event which will help connect seniors and their families with services and events happening in their own communities. This event was made possible through the financial support provided by the provincial Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility.

“We are building on our past successes, which were Communi-tea and virtual community events, held through COVID,” explained Ms. Noble, adding, “This event builds on the success of our Bridge the Gap Directory [which] was published and distributed at various Municipal facilities, local businesses and retirement homes.”
