Kawartha Lakes says goodbye to longtime city staff member

KAWARTHA LAKES: Kawartha Lakes council said goodbye to a longtime employee at a Tuesday, April 30th meeting.

Craig Shanks, a significant figure in the City of Kawartha Lakes, is retiring after a career that has left an indelible mark on our community, spanning back to pre-amalgamation.

“Craig began his career locally over 25 years ago, first with the Town of Lindsay justprior toamalgamation, and continued with the City of Kawartha Lakes. He served as Manager of Parks and Recreation and has been the Director of Community Services for the last 12 years,” Mayor Doug Elmslie explained.

Mayor Elmslie also discussed the impact Mr. Shanks has had on the municipality.

“We will miss his constant championing and passion for community services and fierce and unwavering support for his staff. Craig, thank you for all your contributions to the community and the City. We are better as a result of your work, and we wish you and your family every happiness and great health in your retirement.”
