Lauren Walker, All Fit/All Ages Gym

The holidays are upon us! I don’t know about you, but it can definitely throw off my routine. The added Christmas parties tempt us with sugary treats. You may experience the added stress of buying gifts which we all know can make us a little anxious. We must set aside time to be active and make wise food choices. Just because it is Christmas doesn’t mean we shouldn’t stick to our fitness goals. The greatest gift you can give to others is making time for yourself. The healthier you are, the more time and energy you have for family and friends. How we keep active during the holidays? Here are my top three: 1. Consistency: If you are more successful on a structured exercise program, my advice is to stay consistent. Set aside time to get to the gym or make time every day to do something active. 2. Set Limitations: We can all be tempted by those sugary treats. Set a reasonable limitation. Total up all the extra calories those delicious treats have. Is it worth all the extra calories? We have to realize the more we put in our body, the more we have to move it. 3. Be Creative: Look for ways to keep active if you can’t get to the gym. There are opportunities all around us. For example: Take the dog for a walk, shovel the driveway or build a snowman with your kids or grandkids. We should spend holidays enjoying the company of family and friends. We also need to help our clients make time to be active. With these helpful tips, we can help our clients stay on track.

Happy Healthy Holidays to all!
