Bridge weight restrictions on Beaver River Bridge

BROCK: A bridge weight restriction has been implemented for the Beaver River Bridge, which connects Simcoe Street, Regional Road 15, over the Beaver River, in the community of Beaverton, in Brock Township. The bridge weight restriction limits the total weight of vehicles on the bridge, which does not have adequate capacity to carry certain vehicle loads. A detailed bridge inspection and evaluation has been carried out, and it was determined that the following weight restrictions should be in place until a longer-term solution is identified: • Single Axle – 9 tonnes • Tandem Axle – 10 tonnes • Tridem Axle – 13 tonnes The detour route, via Highway 12 and Mara Road, Regional Road 23, is posted. The restriction pertains to the Beaver River Bridge, which connects Simcoe Street, Regional Road 15, over the Beaver River, immediately west of Highway 12, in Beaverton. This restriction is being implemented to ensure the public safety of bridge users and will be ongoing, until further notice. Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) and the Ministry of Transportation Ontario monitor vehicles to enforce weight restrictions. As this concerns public safety, there will be no exemptions to this weight restriction.
