KAWARTHA LAKES: An alert neighbour recently interrupted a break and enter to a residence, leading to charges being laid against a local woman. According to police, at approximately 2:30 p.m., on Monday, March 9th, a witness observed a woman carrying property from a neighbouring apartment. The witness confronted the woman, who dropped some of the property she was carrying and fled from the area. The Kawartha Lakes Police Service was notified of the break and enter and a short time later, the suspect was found, wearing clothing she had stolen from the apartment. The woman was arrested and has been charged with break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Police add that 30-year-old Jacqueline Burgess is scheduled to appear in April, at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Lindsay.
