SCUGOG: Over the last couple of years, the Blackstock Minor Hockey League has been putting in the work to rebuild their player base.

“Before [COVID-19] we had 275 kids enrolled, but unfortunately, due to COVID-19, our league was unable to run for two years and our enrollment suffered significantly,” executive Carrie Robinson told councillors at a meeting on Monday, March 4th.

Last year saw 102 children enrolled and this year the organization has grown to see 160 children enrolled.

“We anticipate that number to only grow next season,” Ms. Robinson stated.

Ms. Robinson called the Blackstock Minor Hockey League “the heart of our small town.”

The Blackstock Minor Hockey League has been running for 25 years and is a volunteer based organization. In order to grow back after the pandemic, the league has been holding fundraisers as well as going after new sponsorship opportunities.
