UXBRIDGE: The Uxbridge Bruins posted back-to-back wins over the weekend, and as of press time are in a three-way tie with the Lakefield Chiefs and Port Perry MoJacks for top spot in the PJHL Orr Division table, with each team currently sitting at 24 points.
Looking to put a 7-2 loss in Lakefield, on the evening of Oct. 31st, behind them, the Bruins hosted the North Kawartha Knights, at the Bear Den, on Friday, Nov. 3rd.
Goals from Michael Rennie and Simon Fieg gave Uxbridge a 2-0 lead, heading into the 3rd period.
In the final frame, goals from Adam Bartholomew and Noah Donaghy pushed Uxbridge to a commanding 4-0 lead, before the Knights could find the back of the net, just past the midpoint of the third period.
Rennie’s second of the night rounded out the scoring for the Bruins, with North Kawartha adding a late goal, as Uxbridge took the win, by a final score of 5-2.
Ryan McConkey stopped 37 of 39 shots to improve his record to 7-2-0 on the season.
On Sunday afternoon, the Bruins were back on the ice, as they headed to Sutton, for a matinee match-up with the Georgina Ice.
After falling behind by a score of 3-1, six unanswered goals allowed the Bruins to claw their way back from a 2nd period deficit, to win 7-4 over the Georgina Ice this afternoon in Sutton.
Donaghy had a pair of goals in the victory, with Matthew Hunter, Simon Fieg, Kieran Beaudoin, Aiden Reilly and Damien Heinle chipping in with singles.
McConkey turned aside 31 of 35 shots for his fourth consecutive win.
- The Clarington Eagles soar into the Bear Den on Friday, November 10th, to tangle with the Bruins at 7:45 p.m. As of press time, the Eagles sit in Orr Division fourth-place in the table, with 21 points.
