Jackson Wins Maple Leaf Bonspiel
The Port Perry Day Ladies League hosted their annual Maple Leaf Womens bonspiel last Wednesday. A total of fifty-six curlers participated in the event, with teams making the trip from Orillia, Lakefield, Ennismore, Lindsay, Unionville, Uxbridge and Cobourg.
After each team played two, eight-end games, Port Perry’s Carol Jackson took home top prize. Sue Duncan from Port Perry took home second place, followed by Ennismore’s Kathy Reid, Lakefield’s Linda Parcel and Orillia’s Rhonda Thanasse.
This home hosted event was enjoyed by all, as well as being a great fundraiser for our club. Special thank you to Maple Leaf Foods, for their continued sponsorship and support of the event, and hats off to the social committee and all the volunteers that made this annual event a great success.
Team Brauch, Plum Pudding Bonspiel Winners
The Plum Pudding Mixed Bonspiel was hosted by the Uxbridge Curling Club on Saturday, November 5th. Sponsored by Ron Noble Insurance, there were two draws of teams playing two, eight-end games and were treated to a delicious lunch and dinner.
When all the points were tallied, Uxbridge’s Ray Brauch skipped Leslie Wagner, Rick Joest, and Sara Campbell to two wins and and the overall top score of 32.25 points. Uxbridge’s Stephen Tucker finished second, followed by Sutton’s Bruce Hall who finished third.
A great day was had by all. Thanks again to all the sponsors and the club volunteers.
Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday
The Uxbridge Curling Club will be hosting it’s seventh annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday November 19th from 8:00am to 11:00am. The club is located at 70 Franklin Street, right next to UxPool. Bring your family and enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast before you head out to the Santa Claus parade. Cost is $7 for Adults and $5 for children.
Teams Needed for Local Spiels
Two local bonspiels, both being held on Saturday, December 3rd, are still looking for teams to fill their events.
The Men’s Turkey Spiel at the Uxbridge Curling Club, play three, eight-end games, and are treated to lunch and dinner.
