CRAIG SCHROTER The Standard
The Lindsay Muskies were in action in Whitby, Sunday afternoon, falling to the hometown Fury by a final score of 5-1.
The Fury opened with a pair of quick goals in the first. At 6:10, it was Greg Smith getting the home side on the board, from Joe Roy and Matt Latin, then, just over two minutes later, Liam Robertson doubled the lead, from Shane Bull and Jason Stachelbeck.
Muskies forward and Kirkfield native, Braydon Leeking continued his strong season getting the Fish back to within one, at 10:05, with the assists going to Jake Dale and Owen Barnett. At 12:43, Smith scored his second of the period, this one coming on a power play from Patrick Demaio and Roy.
The Muskies were needing the next goal to get back into the match in the second period but it did not happen. There was only one goal in the period, and it went to Amedeo Mastrangeli, at 14:03, to make it 4-1.
In the third, again there was only one goal, which marked a hat trick for Greg Smith, with the helpers going to Rory Milne and Latin at 12:47.
Blake Curran made 36 saves in the loss, while Luke Pearson made 24 in the Whitby net.
The Muskies won’t have much time to dwell on things, as they hit the road again Monday night in Cobourg.
