KAWARTHA: The Lindsay Muskies put up a lot better fight, but still fell by a score of 6-3 to the Spirit, Saturday night.
The Muskies got off to a good start, when Ryan Smith scored his 4th goal of the season, from Brendan Tomilson and Mike Cimini, at 4:47, to put the Fish up by one, but just under two minutes later, at 6:37, Jack Varga tied the game on a power play, from Curtis Rawn.
The Spirit took a 2-1 lead, at 13:18, on a goal from Kosta Manikis. Justin Mahabir and Isaak Phillips drew the assists on the go ahead goal.
In the second period newly acquired defenseman Greg Arnburg scored his 1st of the season, from Jake Dale, to tie the game 2-2, at 5:05, but Beau Binnie restored the one goal Stouffville lead, at 7:29, when he scored, from Lyam Cripps and Jacob Breckles. The Muskies kept fighting back on this night though, and Cam Robinson’s 2nd of the season tied the game 3-3. That goal was a power play goal, at 10:10, and was assisted by Brandon Carr-Ansah and Noah Dollo. Again though, the Spirit bounced back, at 12:42, with another power play goal, which turned out to be the game winner. Curtis Brown scored it, from Connor Evans and Varga. With just 1:11 left in the period, Stouffville went up by two, when Brandon MacKinnon scored, from Ian Vucko.
The third period only saw one goal, but it essentially put an end to any thoughts of a Muskies comeback. The goal went to Tyler Kulba at 10:11, from Andrew Hughes and Jacob Breckles.
The next action for the Muskies is Thursday night, when they travel to Kingston.
