KEM CEHAJIC Special To The Standard
NORTH DURHAM: It was another successful week for a couple of the teams representing North Durham with a pair of big wins.
The U13 girls defeated Cavan 3-2 in a hard fought match. NDUFC goals were provided by N Stewart, A Adams and M Kromer, with a variety of players contributing assists and team defense.
In U15 girls play, our U14 girls kept rolling along, with a convincing 3-1 victory over Kawartha, as the team now sits in an impressive third place division spot. A powerful pair of goals, from Emma Vandinther, to go along with a single from Ericka Vanhezewijk, were all the team needed to come away with the big 3 points. The girls are in great form, as they prepare for the Cup Championship game this coming Saturday. The squad will be at the Civic Centre (Lake Simcoe) on field 1, with kickoff scheduled at 9:00 am. They will be going up against a tough Peterborough Boom squad, so best of luck to all the players and coaches, as they attempt to take home the winner's trophy.
The U16 girls were more than equal in their match against Oshawa this past week, losing a close one 2-1. A great effort from the team, with Avery Evans hitting the back of the net to score.
Fantastic to see our Women's National Soccer Team having great success at the Olympics in Rio, as they march toward the medal rounds.
TFC is also having success, never before seen by the club, as they have climbed to 2nd spot i their division, thanks to a great home record, timely goals by the Atomic Ant and contributions from the younger players. Send me your team news at firstname.lastname@example.org.
