The first taste of winter has melted away, after three cold days over Remembrance Day weekend.
Many services of Remembrance were held on November 11th. Greenbank Public School held theirs on Friday morning, a lovely memorial and tribute to veterans of all wars.
Now the school is taking orders with their poinsettia fundraiser, and Bradford Greenhouses, whose prices haven't changed in seven years. You may order a 10 inch pot for $20; 8 inch pot for $15; a tropical seasonal arrangement for $20; table top centre piece for $20, with red or gold balls. Colours of plants are burgundy, pink, red, white. Call 905-985-2567 by November 22nd, to place your order, and for the pick up date.
Spirit Wear (Wishing Technology) T-shirts are $20, and hoodie are also available at the school for $50, with sample sizes to try on.
Jr. Volleyball has started.
Parent/teacher interviews are Thursday evening, on the 16th, and Friday, November 17th, a P.A. Day.
Friday night euchres continue at the Hall, starting at 7:30.
Monthly Folk Music entertainers continue to bring their music to our village. Watch for future performances.
Former Greenbank resident Jamie Canavan passed away recently. The funeral was held November 6th. Sympathy goes to his family.
The greeters at church on Sunday were Eunice Rahm and Pat Raines. Rev. Richard told of the huge crowd at Oshawa Memorial Park, at the November 11th service, and R.S. McLaughlin High School's Friday performance in remembrance of four earlier wars. He also told of troop letters read and decor which took one back to those war years. It was a real tribute by today's youth. Welcome was given to our future minister Stephanie Richmond and to visitors. The congregational meeting voted to move forward with the accessibility project, when pledged funds, or actual funds, are made.
If you would like to support the church monthly, or when unable to attend, PAR (Pre-Authorized Remittance) may be made with your bank, to the church and Wilma Smith 705-357-2427; gadget.queen,@hotmail.com. Wilma Smith has forms & info.
