JANET VAN CAMP Special to The Standard

Blackstock Nestleton United Church is again hosting its annual plant and 'boot' sale on Saturday, May 11th, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Church's parking lot. If your flower beds need to be perked up with some new perennials, this is the place to find them! We also hope to have tomato plants and rhubarb for sale.

Donations of perennials and house plants are gratefully accepted and may be dropped off at the Church on Friday, May 10th, in the morning between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. or in the afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. The "Boot" Sale allows you to reserve a parking spot and sell items from the trunk of your vehicle. For further information, or if you need someone to dig out your plants, please call Kelly at 905-986-4917. New this year: BBQ hotdogs available courtesy of Chef Rob!

Blackstock Curling Club is celebrating 75 years as a club and Blackstock Minor Hockey is being recognized for 25 years at the Scugog Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday, April 25th at 7 p.m. Both of these organizations have had, and continue to have, an important impact on our local sporting community. Doug Kadowaki, from the Blackstock Curling Club, is also being recognized as a long- serving volunteer. All are welcome to attend the ceremony.

The Blackstock Curling Club recently held its annual banquet and awards night with a good number of curlers in attendance. Results from the second schedule are as follows: First-Doug Kadowaki, Karen Kadowaki, Jeff Norris, Candace/Russell Ramshaw; Second-Craig Larmer, Ron Bradburn, Michelle O'Donohoe, Joe O'Donohoe; Third-Jim Hutchinson, Steve Bailey, Heather Walker, Chris Walker. If you would like to join us for the upcoming season, please contact Doug Kadowaki by calling 905-986-4263 or look for us at the Blackstock Fair Community Market on August 24th.
