Greenbank Lions took their February 7th meeting to Port Perry Villa, enabling Lion Rodd to join them on a wintery night. The Greenbank Lions meet at the Hall every first and third Wednesday of each month, at 7 p.m. New members are always welcome, or if you prefer, volunteers are needed for the various events. By contacting Larry at 905-985-3723, to offer your name and contact number, you may be called to volunteer your help. In May there will be a scrap metal and electronics collection, so please save items for donations to this fundraiser in support of projects.
Sunday greeters were Bill and Kelly Monkman. Young Owen Martens assisted minister Stephanie in lighting the Christ candle. The choral anthem “Holy, Holy, Holy” was sung beautifully, acapella. Being the fifth Sunday after Epiphany, Transfiguration Sunday, the children's story and sermon message were of a transforming God, whose spirit of love changes everything. Pauline Reed's Mission and Service talk told of the community church (supported by M&S contributions) located in the Jane/Finch area of Toronto, a ministry of hope for a better way of life in the most violent part of the city. Pauline moves February 15th, to her new home at The Village of Taunton Mills, Whitby, but plans to come back when possible. The choir, U.C.W., and church family, have so appreciated her input, along with that of her late husband Newton, in many ways, in the church community. A plant and best wishes were presented to Pauline at the end of the service by M. J. Till. Remember your Lenten M&S Calendars.
Next Sunday, the 18th, at 11 a.m. is an Intergenerational Service, celebrating Family Day, and the first Sunday of Lent. Everyone is encouraged to wear your PJ's to church for Family Pyjama Day!
Forward your M&P praise and/or concerns to the joint committee in signed correspondence for the February 19th meeting.
