The Mayor’s Charity Gala a success

JAMES J. GREEN, The Standard

SCUGOG: Finally after pandemic delays this year's Mayor's Charity Gala, held at the Scugog Arena on November 3rd, was very well attended. As Current Mayor Bobbie Drew said in her final speech of the evening this Gala was her "swan song," as she seeks retirement from her role as mayor, culminating a career of 31 years.

“[This] is a chance to give back to the community I love, a community I call home” the Mayor stated. "This event had been on my [career] bucket list all during this term, however COVID had other plans, but here we are!"

The 2022 Mayor's Gala held both a silent and live auction, a hardy dinner, and entertainment. The event served as an opportunity for a meet and greet while supporting the Scugog community.

In the end the event helped raise money for the Port Perry Hospital Foundation, The Oakridges Hospice and The Lake Scugog Enhancement Project. Between ticket sales and the generosity of the attendees the funds raised by the event was substantial. The net amount raised by the event has yet to be tallied.
