Something Big is coming to Scugog!

SCUGOG: Get ready for this year's art festival, 'small town BIG.'

The festival will kick off with the Lake Scugog Studio Tour, on Saturday, May 6th, and Sunday, May 7th, and run all the way to the following Saturday; May 13th. For the whole tour, go to scugogstudiotour.ca.

Make sure to visit all the artists and see their incredible work. Visit Two Blokes Cider, on May 13th, to explore their Mother's Day Market and catch the outdoor concert by The Wanted, for a fun Saturday afternoon.

Come out for our fabulous line-up of live music, comedy, and interactive programs to help you express your creativity. Lynn McDonald's Jazz is returning to the festival, with two exciting performances held at the Church of Ascension, featuring Pipo Romero in The Sound of Spain and Jake Koffman, Bernie Senensky, and Peter Telford in the performance 'Remembering Moe Koffman.'

We have a Barn Quilt painting in the laneway next to Scugog Arts Space. From Monday, May 8th to Wednesday, May 10th, we will paint beautiful barn quilt boards, which are stunning works of art, using traditional quilting block patterns. Expect to see some fun, new murals in our community coming this summer.

Other hands-on activities, to help you flex your artist's muscles, include: embroidery classes; lino cut; and polymer clay floral sculpting classes, at Meta4 Gallery. Learn a French knot stitch and a lazy daisy stitch. Try your hand at block printing, and learn how to sculpt delicate flowers.

We have a comedy night planned, with Elvira Kurt and Girls Nite Out, on Saturday, May 12th, at Town Hall Theatre. You will not want to miss the all-female, all-funny comedy troupe, as they take Port Perry by storm.

For the writers, readers, and fans of cultural history, we have a fascinating lecture from archeologist Dr. Amy Barron. On May 11th, she will delve into the history of written language, from the first hieroglyphs to cuneiform, to the modern alphabet we know and use today.

There is something happening every day, from Saturday, May 6th to Saturday, May 13th, and we have something for everyone. We have a photography challenge, a film contest, inspiring art demonstrations, and so much more.

Check out the full line-up, at www.scugogarts.ca/small-town-big/.

We can't wait to see you there!
