Scugog Memorial Public Library Developing Plan to Offer Book Pickup Service

SCUGOG: As mentioned in the Government of Ontario’s May 14th detailed list of Stage One openings, public library services may choose to offer curbside pickup as early as May 19th, 2020. While the Scugog Memorial Public Library (SMPL) truly appreciates how much library services are valued by the community, SMPL is delaying an immediate launch of a book pickup service until processes and protective measures have been fully developed to ensure staff and customers’ health and safety during these uncertain times. “Work on these processes and procurement of necessary supplies has already begun. We are committed to the safety of our staff and patrons, and we are still at least two weeks away from being able to safely roll out this service,” says Amy Caughlin, CEO. “We have more than 3,000 items out in people’s homes at the moment and we want to make certain that, when they come back to the library, those materials are handled safely and can be put into the hands of the next patron with confidence. The Library will continue to keep everyone informed as decisions are made, and plans confirmed. We truly miss our customers and want to ensure they are enjoying our online resources and services while staying healthy.” For more information and updates, please visit the Scugog Memorial Public Library website at www.scugoglibrary.ca.
