Scugog library offering contactless service

SCUGOG: The Scugog Memorial Library is adapting to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation. As of Tuesday, June 2nd, the library has launched a contactless pickup service. This service will be available to people Tuesday to Friday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Saturdays between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. “We will be bringing staff back into the building on June 1st, and spending that day training them in the new procedures, to ensure that we have no more than five staff in the building at a time and all of the staff will be keeping that two metre distance, and if necessary, when handling materials, they will be very careful to use the [personal protective equipment]. We will be quarantining all materials returning through the drop box for 72 hours,” Scugog library’s CEO Amy Caughlin told councillors, at a recent meeting. In order to use the service, people will have to either log in to an account through the library’s online catalogue, or place a hold on a book by calling 905-985-7686 extension 101. Staff will then check out, bag, and place the request on a table between the sliding doors at the library’s entrance to be picked up. Then the library staff will contact the person when their request is ready to make an appointment to pick it up. The library staff are asking people to use the external drop box for returns.
