Scugog encouraging residents to take part in 2022 edition of Pitch In Week

DAN CEARNS, The Standard

SCUGOG: The Township of Scugog encourages people to take part in the annual Pitch In Week.

“I’m very happy to be able to announce we are fully participating this year in Pitch In Week. We haven’t been able to do a full participation in the last couple of years,” Carol Coleman, the Director of Public Works and Infrastructure, said during a meeting on Monday, April 11th.

Pitch In Week involves community members and volunteers participating in community or neighbourhood clean-up initiatives or events. This year, the clean-up week takes place from April 17th until April 22nd.

“In 2021, over 550,000 volunteers took part in more than 28,000 individual clean-ups resulting in 3.7 million pounds of litter being removed from parks, streets and waterways,” read a press release from Pitch-In Canada.

The Township of Scugog encourages interested people to register with the Township at www.scugog.ca or by calling 905-985-7346.

“We will happily supply garbage bags and gloves. Then we will schedule to pick up the garbage after it’s been collected. We have awesome volunteers [who] have helped so much in the past to keep Scugog beautiful and litter-free, and we thank you in advance for your help this year,” Director Coleman said.
