Port Perry 150 kicks off a year of events

Top left: Bill McKee, Scugog Township’s Town Crier opened the Port Perry 150 celebrations in Palmer Park last Wednesday, June 9th. The festivites were hosted by Jonathan van Bilsen. Community Celebrating Community is the theme for Port Perry’s 150th Anniversary. The past year has been and still is a challenge for us all. Residents and businesses banded together to support each other and their strength and resilience will continue to keep Port Perry a thriving town. Community wasn’t cancelled because of Covid – 19, we just learned to do things differently. The plans to celebrate this sesquicentennial birthday throughout the year will look different from past celebrations. Although planned through a Covid – 19 lens, the events are expected to showcase our town, reflecting our history and appreciating all the unique things Port Perry has to offer.

150 Things to do in Scugog Booklet Released! The 150 Booklet has been mailed out to all of Scugog. Additional copies are available at the Township office, Port Perry Print and the Chamber of Commerce.

Port Perry Past and Present Jonathan van Bilsen’s new book Port Perry Past and Present was recently released. You can purchase your copy at The Standard Newspaper office, the Port Perry Farmers Market and Jonathan van Bilsen.
