Pioneer Day, August 25th

SCUGOG: Attend the Scugog Shores Museum’s annual fundraiser, Pioneer Day. See the village come to life to the sounds of the blacksmith, woodwright, printing press, engines, and more. The Scugog Shores Museum Village is happy to announce our annual Pioneer Day. This event raises money for the preservation and celebration of Scugog’s heritage. A fun and family-friendly event, Pioneer Day is perfect for anyone who likes to learn new things, explore, and celebrate history. This year’s Pioneer Day will take place on Sunday, August 25th, 2019, and runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Visitors will be treated to heritage demonstrations such as blacksmithing, wood and soap stone carving, spinning and weaving, and rug rooking. Guests may also explore the museum’s twelve historic buildings while experiencing historic presentations such as clogging. A barbeque, steamed corn, and bake sale will be on site for a bite to eat. In addition to our demonstrations and presentations, a collection of antique cars, gas engines, and half-scale steam engines will also be on display. Children and children-at-heart can try their hand at activities and crafts inspired by the early settlers and Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, available at discovery stations around the historic property. Pioneer Day is a perfect event for a family outing situated only 5 minutes from beautiful downtown Port Perry. General admission applies. All proceeds go to the Scugog Shores Museum.
