New wayfinding signs for exploring Uxbridge

UXBRIDGE: Exploring Uxbridge Township has gotten a little easier recently with the introduction of new way finding signs throughout the municipality.

The signs are designed to make it easier for residents and tourists to find local attractions and services and to help travellers to feel welcome. The goal of the project is to drive tourist visitation and economic impact by pointing people to key tourism sites and connecting existing visitors to discover more locations once they are here.

The planning and design of the new sign system was done by a working group of Township staff and residents that included representation from the Arts and Visual Enhancement Committee, the Tourism Committee, the Heritage Committee, the Trails Committee and the BIA among others. The project has been underway since 2017.

The signs identify parking areas for trailheads, cultural sites, downtown parking, facilities and services (such as the arena and sports fields) along with shopping and dining options.

Installation of all the signs is expected to be complete before the end of the summer. Some funding for the project was provided by Central Counties Tourism as part of a Tourism grant.
