KAWARTHA LAKES: The Lindsay Muskies battled hard all night long and even out shot the Whitby Fury but in the end the Fury prevailed by a score of 4 to 2. The Whitby squad only had 20 shots on the night but Ethan Doyle made at least four of them count, tallying all four Whitby goals. Doyle picked up his first of the night at 13:28 of the opening frame finishing a nice short handed passing play, but the Muskies came back well when Thomas Johnston scored his fifth of the season on a power play at 16:34, from Brett Robertson and Adam Miwa. The Fish then grabbed a 2 to 1 lead at 17:49 when Bryce Caruk lit the lamp against his former team for his third goal of the season from Duncan Scullion. Doyle’s second of the game came at the 13:27 mark of the middle frame to tie the game at 2 to 2. Late in the period the Muskies were handed a major penalty, spread almost equally over the end of the second, and into the third period. The Lindsay penalty killers were able to do a great job though to kill that one off but Doyle put the Fury on top at 9:59. While the Muskies carried the play for long periods of time, they could not draw even, then Doyle again took advantage of a power play to put Whitby up 4 to 2 at 15:36. With 2:32 left on the clock they handed Whitby a penalty leading Muskies Head Coach to call a time out and pull goaltender Andrew Vigliatore to the bench for an extra attacker. The Muskies fired shot after shot at the Whitby goal, but could not put another one in. The Fish outshot Whitby by a count of 31 to 20. After the game Bryce Caruk said he felt the team played well, but were hurt by some penalties. When asked what he thought the team has to do to turn things around, he said they just have to keep playing physical and fast. The next action for Lindsay is Sunday afternoon in Whitby.
