DAN CEARNS, The Standard

KAWARTHA LAKES: A fire, at the Lindsay Square Mall, on Tuesday, May 30th, caused an estimated $200,000 in damages.

Kawartha Lakes firefighters were called to the scene, in the early afternoon, around 1 p.m.

“The fire was contained to the exterior of the building and started in a construction dumpster,” read an email from Kawartha Lakes Fire Chief Terry Jones.

Chief Jones said, the fire response involved firefighters from three stations, and “crews were on scene for two hours.” The mall was evacuated and was closed for the remainder of the day.

The majority of the mall reopened on Wednesday, May 31st. However, one store incurred water damage, and the fire chief stated, he expected that store would “remain closed until clean-up has been completed.” The damaged store was ‘Your Dollar Store With More.’
