Royal Canadian Legion 2020 Remembrance Poster and Literary Contests

Dear editor,

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419 Port Perry through the Annual Educational Program offers the Remembrance poster and literary contests which poster, essays and poetry. Through encouragement from parents, teachers and leaders, the students produce vivid and detailed heartfelt drawings and writings based on a Canadian Theme of Remembrance. We invite and encourage all students to participate from elementary and high schools in the Township of Scugog. The schools in Port Perry, Prince Albert, Cartwright and Greenbank have received their information kits. Children who are home schooled are welcome to participate. Cadets, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides are encouraged to enter. Information can be found at www.on.legion.ca under youth programs or contact Barb Doupe at 905-985-2022 Youth Education chairman at Branch 419. The black and white poster and colour poster contests are divided into 4 categories; Primary – grades one to three, Junior–grades four to six, Intermediate–grades seven to nine and Seniors–grades ten to twelve. The literary contests are divided into three categories; Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Seniors. Entries will be picked up at the schools, the morning of November 20th or entries can be taken to the Legion. The Legion is located at 484 Bay Street, Port Perry, and is accessible between the hours of 2 and 6 p.m. Late entries will be disqualified. There is a video contest you may enter. Following being judged at the branch level, the first, second and third place winners of the posters and literary contests will be notified as well as the applicable schools. First place winners of each category will advance to the Zone judging. All other entries will be returned to the schools or student. Please follow the rules and regulations as set down by the Youth Education Division of the Royal Canadian Legion.
