Kawartha Lakes crews battle several Pontypool fires

KAWARTHA LAKES: A number of fires broke out along the Pontypool rail line on Friday, May 22nd. Fire crews from several Kawartha Lakes divisions, including Emily township, Opps, Omemee, Bethany, Janetville, and Burnt River battled fires along two km of the rail linefor several hours. Firefighters were also assisted by the Ministry of Natural Resources’ water bombers. The fires reportedly broke out at 20 different locations. As of press time, the City of Kawartha Lakes fire service is still investigating as they have yet to determine a cause of these fires.
