GREENBANK by Brian Logan

The volunteers of the Greenbank Folk Music Society are excited to announce we are bringing the music back! We hope to fill our beautiful Greenbank Hall with folk fans once again as we present “An Evening With Madison Violet” on Saturday, March 26th. Showtime is 8 p.m. and the hall doors open at 7:30 p.m. After 20 years together, and a career filled with endless roads stretching into the horizon, Juno nominated singer-songwriting duo, Madison Violet, said they are as much wanderers as they are musicians. With many shared tastes, Lisa MacIsaac and Brenley MacEachern decided they would create a sound that would have its roots in their Cape Breton heritage while continually exploring new sounds. From the beginning, the multi-instrumentalists have carried authenticity with them like a talisman, writing all of their own music and lyrics, believing that the best way to connect to their audiences was to treat them like old friends sharing a secret and a smile.

As vocalists they have an innate ability to break your heart, slyly knowing that their soaring harmonies will mend it, often all in the span of one song.

We are pleased to also be welcoming multiple Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, Andrea Ramolo, to open this first night of our return to Greenbank concerts.

Andrea has been recording and touring her music since 2008, has released six studio albums plus several singles.

There will be some “Covid protocols” that must be followed. Masking mandates are still in place provincially, unless you are sitting at a table eating or drinking. And, just for this first show, we have decided to ask for Ontario certification/proof of vaccination (QR Code). Please understand this is done with absolutely no intent to wade into a political debate of any kind. But in this early stage of reopening, and considering we have many vulnerable members, we are making an effort to allow an increased level of comfort to both audience and artists alike.

Tickets are $30 each and are available for this show by calling 905-985-8351 or 905-439-6200. Messages left will be returned promptly. Greenbank Centennial Hall is located in the town of Greenbank, on Highway 12. just 30 minutes north of Whitby.

Check out our website and watch for future concerts at: https://greenbankfolkmusic.ca/, and on Facebook.
