Epsom & Utica Oct. 5

by Faye Ashton

This summer like weather is amazing.

The monarch butterflies are still with us and the bumble bees and honey bees are still flitting from flower to flower wanting the last food source. The wasps too are still busy visiting the raspberries and any cold drink set down for a moment. We’re told this phenomenal weather will end come the Thanksgiving weekend so we and the birds and bees must enjoy this while we have the chance.

It was a busy week for farmers getting the corn silage in and soybeans harvested in perfect weather.

The Bethesda- Reach Women's Institute’s (W.I.) food and fashion evening was a great success. The desserts were heavenly and the models were runway perfect in athletic wear and business/dress ensembles from Woods Clothing, Uxbridge. Thank you to the W.I. for an entertaining evening.

Leah Daniels’s concert to finalize the events at Elgin Park, on Saturday, was the perfect ending to a special day. Leah entertained us with many of her own songs and some of her favourites from other performers, with vocal assistance from her talented band. It was a fun evening of music.

Thanksgiving, a time for each of us to count our blessings and to share time with family and friends. Remember the food banks so everyone has a reason to not be hungry and be thankful too.
