EPSOM & UTICA by Faye Ashton

Advent has begun as we celebrate “Hope”. All our lives it seems we are hoping for something, but have we ever had to hope for food for our family? Our food banks are in need. There will be covered containers, for non perishable food, on the steps of both the Epsom and Utica United Churches. If you need food from these boxes you are welcome to take from them. The dairy producers of Durham region donated $2000 worth of cheese to Oshawa food banks recently. Beef, pork and egg producers also donate to food banks.

Advent gives us hope again as we await for the arrival of the long awaited Messiahs’ birth. We want to again say thank you to the area churches:

Greenbank/Seagrave United Church, and Port Perry United Church and our former Minister, Alex Jebson at Blyth/Brussels United Church, for live streaming their Sunday services, especially through this Christmas Season. Rev. Philip Mannell will conduct worship at Epsom United Church, on December 12th at 10 a.m. All are welcome. All protocol restrictions will be in place and mask wearing is mandatory. Don’t forget to visit the Port Perry Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, December 5th at 5p.m.

The Fantasy of Lights in Elgin Park, Uxbridge, runs from December 4th to past Christmas. Each one is a spectacular light affair. Stay safe and show love to all this Christmas Season.
