BLACKSTOCK by Tammy Phillips

Mr. Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to town! On Sunday, December 20th, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be chauffeured around the streets of Blackstock, greeting everyone from a safe distance. Come out to wave hello as the merry couple depart, from the Church Street area near the Blackstock Recreation Centre at 1 p.m.

They will head down Old Scugog Road to Crestview Avenue and then back up and around Mason Street. From there, they will continue down Old Scugog Road making their way towards Greensboro Drive and wrap up back on Church Street close to the Blackstock Recreation Centre. The Blackstock Co-op Nursery School (BCNS) wrapped up their ‘Tis the Season Online Silent Auction this past Sunday. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BCNS was unable to host its Annual Breakfast with Santa & Friends. As the nursery school’s largest fundraising event, which normally hosts over 450 people from Blackstock and surrounding communities, the event typically provides the non-profit nursery school with a large portion of its yearly operating funds. The online silent auction raised about a third of those funds, which was more than the school expected and deemed a great success.

A shout out and thanks to all the donors, sponsors and bidders for their participation. Without the community’s ongoing support during this time, it would be difficult for the school to continue serving the community as it has for over 40 years.
