Armed robbery occurs at Port Perry Pharmacy Associates

SCUGOG: One person has been arrested after an armed robbery occurred at a local Scugog pharmacy.

According to Durham Regional Police (DRPS), on Wednesday, April 14th, at about 4:30 p.m., North Division officers were called to Pharmacy Associates of Port Perry.

“The suspect entered the pharmacy and brandished a knife. The suspect took items and fled on foot. Members from [DRPS’] North Division attended the area with the assistance of Air1 and K-9 units. After searching the area, the suspect was located and arrested. The victims did not suffer any physical injuries,” read a DRPS press release.

32-year-old Paul Hansen is being charged with robbery, disguise with intent and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. After the incident, Pharmacy Associates posted an update on their Facebook page.

“No one was injured, and everyone is safe. Through the outstanding work of the Durham Regional Police Service, a suspect was arrested in less than 45 minutes. We are grateful for their skill and professionalism. Also, for the understanding of our patients who were inconvenienced during the investigation,” the post stated. “I would also like to recognize our wonderful staff. Mere moments after going through a simply terrible experience, they showed equal professionalism and worked into the evening to ensure all of our patients would get the care they needed.”
